b an ambassador of kindness.
think about what's possible. do what's needed.
b what makes a difference — today.
Calling all Super Heroes, Agents of Change, Messengers of Peace, Carriers of Kindness, Proponents of the Positive. WIBN wants you!
If you want to see change, you have to b the change. (Thank you, Gandhi!) So where do you start?
Encourage kindness. Turn your internal radar on. When you see an act of kindness, acknowledge it. Encouragement is sometimes all someone needs to pass it on... over and over.
Model kindness. Be a walking-talking random act of kindness and doer of good deeds. Here are just a few simple things you can do (Surely you'll have many more!):
- Offer to babysit for a single parent.
- Make dinner for someone who's been ill or going through a difficult time (or just to be nice!).
- Buy school supplies for kids in need.
- Shovel a snowy sidewalk for an elderly neighbor.
- Adopt a stretch of road and keep it clear of trash.
- Visit an animal shelter and ask to help by playing with the pets waiting for homes.
Spread words of kindness. Use our free e-cards to send kind thoughts to the people you know — not just when there's a special occasion, but every day, when they least expect it, to let them know they're special.
Lead with kindness. Start something up! Invite a group of like-minded friends, family members, co-workers, or classmates to form a Kindness Club. (Don't forget: WIBN shirts are a great way for your group to band together.) Brainstorm action plans and carry them out. Here are some of our ideas — we'd love to hear yours:
- Start a Culture Club with activities that promote a culture of kindness and consideration at home, at school, at work — wherever.
- Write a Kindness Column in your local newspaper, school and business newsletters. Submit articles and observations that inspire others to think-do-b what makes life nice. Want to write for WIBN? Contribute to our Community page or email us for other ideas.
- Do Community Service. There are lots of programs out there looking for willing volunteers in your neighborhood and around the world. Search for volunteering opportunities in your area or "voluntourism" and you'll find lots of ideas for well-run programs near and far.
- B a Mentor! Teach someone to read. Tutor a student. Take someone under your wing and share the benefit of your experience. You could b the one that makes a real difference in their life.
Whatever you do, we want to hear about it.
