The best is yet to b...
Welcome to Wouldn't It B Nice?
a bit "about us" by Carrie Wittenstein, Founder/Optimist
People always ask, "What inspired you to start Wouldn't It B Nice?" Truth is,
it was a bad day.
That morning, I was driving to a client's office. Never having been there before, I drove slowly down the quiet road straining my eyes to find the address. The next thing I knew, a car was on my tail. I pulled over to let her pass and when she did, the elderly driver leaned on her horn, cursing through her open window as she peeled by me. "Life's too short, " I thought to myself.
Something similar happened on my way home: I watched someone lose their cool at a traffic light when the driver in front of them hadn't noticed the light changing. Again, I wondered why people had so little patience for each other.
I think the last straw was hearing that a child at my son's school had said something unkind about him. My son who is nothing but sweet and nice to everyone. In tears, I thought, "Wouldn't it be nice if everyone were just more compassionate, patient and kind?" There's more, but that's really the day it all began. I've come to realize that many good things begin with challenges.
Wouldn't It B Nice? is a company that promotes a philosophy of kindness. It's a vehicle for inspiration, appreciation and creating positive change through deliberate action.
I'd love to think that by giving or wearing our shirts, you'll be empowered to "b the change you seek in the world" (Gandhi). But I know it's not really about the shirt; it's about what's inside. Our goal is to be a reminder that we all have it in us to "b what's possible."
My sons, Ben and Jack, are my muses. They're full of ideas for bringing the WIBN philosophy to life. Ideas for product designs (b green was Jack's idea), ideas for giving back (read about Ben's story) and involving others. WIBN is for them and for those who want to make life nicer.
As for me, I've been a marketing professional, creative director and writer for years. Now, I get to be something I've always wanted be: someone who makes a difference.
A friend once said to me, Wouldn't It B Nice? brings people together because it feels "like cold lemonade on a hot summer day." That made me smile. So I guess, there's just one last thing to say:
Welcome to my "lemonade stand." I hope you'll come back for more.
